Escalating the Need for Building Robust Telecom Infrastructure in the Kingdom of Tonga

Toko Wireless Tonga, trading as WanTok unveiled it plans to build a new 45-meter mobile tower at the Small Business Area in Nuku’alofa. This will be the second tower built by the Group with the first 50-meter tower located at the PTH head office.

Speaking at the Launch, JP Chapman, Managing Director at Toko Wireless said:

“He was delighted for the groundworks to commence and with a completion date at the end of May, he expected to commence selling attractive and very competitive Consumer Broadband and Business Solution service in early June”.

He went onto say that:

“This is a very exciting time for Toko Wireless and its consumer brand – WanTok as it rolls out its new suite of products and services that will be seen as ‘low cost’ and targeting the local community by a local Tongan Company”.

Justin Kaitapu, CTO at Toko Wireless added that:

“Data is indeed the new oil across the telecom sector. The advent of the COVID-19 outbreak has led to an increase in video conferencing and data exchange activities across the globe. This pandemic has highlighted the elevating need for robust telecom infrastructure in the Kingdom of Tonga.  Today marks a significant investment by Toko Wireless into the telecom sector in Tonga and will bring great growth opportunities into the future”
